Abstract: Teeth are an excellent material in living and non-living populations for anthropological, genetic, odontologic and forensic investigations. To define the morphometric criteria for teeth in Haryana, the present study has been conducted in 102 patients (M ale: 52, Female: 50) in the age group of 17-28 years. It was seen that statistically significant sexual dimorphism exist in the mandibular canine and intercanine distance weather measurements are taken on casts or intra-orally. It is concluded that whenever the mesio-distal diameter of mandibular canine is greater than 7.2 mm, the probability of sex being male is hundred percent. If the intercanine distance is greater than 25 mm, the age of male and female is more than 14 and 12 years in male and female espectively.

Resumen: Los dientes son un excelente material en poblaciones vivas y desaparecidas para investigaciones antropológicas, genéticas, odontológicas y forenses. Para definir el criterio morfométrico para los dientes en Haryana, el presente estudio ha sido realizado en 102 pacientes (52 masculinos y 50 femeninos) en un grupo de edad entre 17 y 28 años. Se observó que existe un dimorfismo sexual estadísticamente significativo en el canino y la distancia intercanina de la mandíbula cuando las medidas se toman en escayolas o intraoralmente. Se concluye que cuando el diámetro mesio-distal de los caninos mandibulares es mayor a 7,2mm, la probabilidad de que sea de sexo masculino es de 100. Si la distancia intercanina es mayor a 25mm la edad de masculinos y femeninos es mayor a 14 y 12 años respectivamente.
